Oyster Bay

Oyster Bay

This exterior living space house underwent a full transformation, from a traditional residence to a classic modern “spa” and open home.

The remodel speaks to the personality of its owners; where clean, fresh design is right at home with decorative bold details.

Beautiful patterns and finishes, layered on top of crisp architecture, create a really unique and lovely space.

The clients originally asked for an outdoor pool house. I really didn’t know what to expect at this point.

After essential and important meetings and getting to know the owners better, their lifestyle, their 4 children and 2 golden retrievers, I knew that we needed something functional and spacious.

I brought an architect into the project as a landscaping contractor. We all knew that we needed to create an oasis for this family in the beautiful paradise, here in Sarasota, Florida.

The project also included a large extension to the house. In between the main house and the garage/guest suite, we created an addition to the house.

We added 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, a rooftop, and a large office space with a separated entrance.

The architect stayed with the style of the house and created a beautiful design for a successful renovation.

The landscaping played an essential role in this project.

We had to create spaces for 2 big dogs, kids play areas, and adults entertainment area, car driveway, lighting, paths and trees.

The landscape contractor studied the quality of the soil to really understand the climate and environment around this house and neighborhood.

From this Key West style house we added a touch of contemporary stepping stone with concrete to respect the desire of the clients.

We removed all the bricks and recreated a fine line yard with low maintenance.

A private resort: complete with an outdoor sound system, lounge seating, dining and a fireplace. Plenty of places to relax and hang out.

During the meetings with the clients, architect and landscaper I knew that I wanted this area to be airy and ventilated with breeze and fresh air. I designed a concrete and Ipe wood fence to stay in accordance with the concrete feel that the clients wanted. From the dark brown color of the Ipe wood to the gray color when it is faded, I knew that it couldn’t be better!

We reshaped the pool to a more modern pool and added an insert jacuzzi section inside the pool.

This project won the Home of the Year award in the Home Theater magazine, July 2012 issue!

This home in Oyster Bay was featured because it had an outdoor speaker system and full remote control in addition to the home theater.

The painted paneled ceiling in the Pool House is a nod to the Anglo-Caribbean style of the original house. A soft, neutral color palette draws the outdoors in.

The pool house is coming along… We finally created a full and equipped kitchen, wine bar, walking entry, guest powder room, fire place.

This space welcomes a vaulted ceiling with visible beams. White, lots of great directional light fixtures, and stunning NanaWall folding glass windows and wall systems

The floor is a ceramic tile for low maintenance and humidity resistance.

I wanted to create an outdoor/indoor entertainment space with a stainless countertop next to the grill so the guest could be with their hosts, serving or grilling.

Surrounded by windows and oak trees, this soft serene Pool House feels quiet and peaceful.

Layered textures and calming hues create the perfect retreat.

The outdoor furniture is a dark brown and durable wicker with white, washable Sunbrella cushions and accent pillows.

Oyster Bay Interior Designer 11

The interior design of the pool house reflects the personality of my clients.

This creation and new construction reflect the elegance and simplicity of the environment. I used a faux leather to be able to sit and be able to wet the sofa after swimming in the pool, a modern hanging ceiling to bright this specific corner of the room and a glass coffee table to bring light to see and enjoy the beautiful rug.

A decal of a dandelion to remember that the wind is blowing at all times when a garden can breeze at all times.
